I don’t even mind there are no words…I just love looking at each page, they’re so pretty! And gee, he stayed late! I love that even after the other waitress left, Mona’s still coming up all expectantly ready to refill his cup! She’s such a sweetheart! 🙂
Love this page and love the lack of text. In addition to furthering the mystery of the patron, a think that – in general – a lot of the “magic” of the page is engendered by the ambiguity surrounding the interactions. Their coexistence on the panels without a conversation to sustain that connection seems to suggest that they’re important to one another in a larger, more elemental way. One that transcends a particular conversation or string of interactions. They’re just there. together. There’s something cool about that, and I think it might tell the reader something about the story moving forward.
I doubt Esteban will just leave, I love the dynamic between them! A lot can be done with it gosh here I am thinking like a writer again, don’t mind me. I am very excited for this and as it was said I don’t mind the lack of text, the artwork alone does this justice and is just beautiful!
